Danielle | winemaker

Danielle graduated from the University of Denver with a BS in Environmental Science. Knowing that life in a laboratory would not give her room to explore her creative drive, she traveled west to Sonoma to work as a harvest intern at Kamen Estate Wines. The rest is history as they say.

“I’ve had the incredible opportunity to be mentored by some of the best winemakers in California. I’ve practiced both traditional winemaking approaches, and learned from others that “fortune favors the bold”. Every vintage is a new adventure and I wanted to take all I had learned and make wine my way. Jambe de Bois is my creative outlet and a journey of new discoveries.”

Danielle’s focus is working with French varietals as a nod to her heritage. Each year the goal is to express the vintage and terroir through her lens.

Dan | winegrower

Dan, armed with a background in geology and a passion for organic agriculture, either by fate or circumstance, stumbled upon the godfather of organic vineyards, Phil Coturri.

Dan moved to California with his soon to be wife, Danielle Langlois. Organic Viticulturalist, Phil Coturri, gave him his start in wine-growing where he worked with the vineyard crews at Kamen Estate. During those six years, Dan studied all aspects of organic farming, including biodynamic agriculture and Korean natural farming. He helped manage almost all vineyards in the Jambe de Bois portfolio and continues to be hands on in the field.

THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND

Jambe de Bois, French for “wooden leg”, was the name that adorned my peg-legged ancestor; whose storied adventures through the seas of the French West Indies, filled my childhood. The legacy of a one-legged pirate inspired generations and my pursuit of a new experience. This wine of his namesake encapsulates my journey of discovery and the bounty of California wine country.
